Christmas Eve taxi trade in Southport ‘has never been so terrible’ December 25th, 2012 admin Latest News Shares Comments Christmas Eve taxi trade in Southport ‘has never been so terrible’ AN experienced local taxi driver said Christmas Eve had been the quietest in 25 years. Mr Jackson Lloyd who has worked in the town for the past 35 years said drivers were giving up because of the declining trade. Mr Jackson Lloyd said: “I am starting my 35th year in taxis and it was the worst Christmas Eve ever. “The majority of drivers would agree it was quieter than most Christmas Eve’s. “Firms would have Christmas parties 20 years ago, but there are not a lot of big firms in Southport any more and there aren’t these big Christmas parties anymore. Mr Jackson Lloyd said another reason for declining taxi trade was that people were not prepared to pay prices charged by some bars and would rather buy lower priced alcohol from Bargain Booze and supermarkets. There was a 30 minute period between 10:45 and 11:15 when trade was ok but no busier that a normal Saturday night and that was about it! Let’s hope New Years Eve is better!
