The true meaning of Christmas has been brought to life at a city Carol Concert.

North West Cancer Research (NWCR) hosted its inaugural Christmas event at the iconic Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral featuring a breathtaking performance from Mezzo soprano, Danielle Thomas, 23, from Waterloo.

Danielle was part of a regional line-up of talent which included the West Kirby Light Opera Society and St. Francis Xavier’s College Chamber Choir for the fundraising Carol Concert which was supported by Barratt Homes.

Anne Jackson, Chief Executive of NWCR, said: “We couldn’t have wished for the Carol Concert to have gone any better – what a fantastic afternoon! As a cha rity that works so hard to fund pioneering research into the causes of cancer, it is so good that on momentous occasions like this that you can reflect on the great achievements of researchers, fundraisers and committees throughout the year.”

Among the host of VIP guests are Dame Lorna Muirhead D.B.E,  Lord, Lieutenant of Merseyside, The High Sheriff of Merseyside, The Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Erica Kemp and The Mayor and Mayoress of Wirral – Councillor Dave Mitchell and Sue Mitchell.

Anne added: “We have had amazing feedback from everyone who attended the Carol Concert and will certainly be looking at ways to make it happen, even bigger and better next year.”
