CCTV appeal to catch poppy charity box thief November 11th, 2013 admin Latest News Shares Comments CCTV appeal to catch poppy charity box thief POLICE have issued CCTV images of a man they need to speak with after a poppy charity box was stolen from a shop in Ormskirk. The theft took place around 4:50pm on Tuesday 29th October 2013 at ‘Taylors’ on Moor Street when the staff member behind the till was distracted by a man asking for help choosing a greetings card in another area of the shop. As the staff member left the till area, to come round to assist him, the man took the collection box that was on top of the counter, thought to contain around £10 and hid it inside his jacket. He spoke briefly with the shop assistant again before leaving the shop. PC Ian Fisher said: “This is a despicable offence and I would urge anyone who has any information about the identity of the man in the CCTV image to contact Lancashire Police on 101 quoting log number LC-20131030-0287.” People with information can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or on-line at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
