We have released CCTV images of a man we would like to speak to in connection with the theft of a purse from an 89 year old woman at a supermarket in Ormskirk.

The theft happened at 11.10am on Monday 21 December in Morrisons on Park Road when the elderly victim was followed around the store before her purse was stolen from her handbag.

PC Justin Fraser from Skelmersdale Police said: “This was a callous theft in which an elderly victim was targeted while she was shopping. We are keen to trace the man pictured in the images and I would urge anyone who recognises him or has any information about the theft to contact us.”

The man is described as white, in his late thirties, slim build with short dark greying hair. He is described as wearing a blue hooded jacket, blue jeans, black footwear with a grey and white checked scarf. He also had a distinctive tattoo on his left hand above his thumb and forefinger.

Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting crime reference SB1504771.

Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
