Cakes raising the awareness of autism at Southport station

29th March 2017

This week is Autism Awareness Week.

A Great Little Place had a stall at Southport Station yesterday (Tuesday 28 March) giving out cakes to showcase our work at the cafes and talking about the Charity and its services.

The café is having a prize draw on Saturday for one lucky customer to win a celebration cake and we are going to surprise 20 local businesses with boxes of cakes.

Susan Yarnell told OTS News “We are always hugely supported by the community and every cup of coffee and piece of cake sold goes towards helping a young person with autism to gain valuable skills for future employment.

“It is extremely hard for young people to get work, but only 16% of people with autism are in full-time employment, they also find it hugely difficult to get work placements where they can gain skills for work.

“We have lots of wonderful testimonials about our work and the difference working with us has made the young people with autism and their families.”
