Business men bank on success for new venture

Gavin Williams, 29, from Bispham and James Kennedy, from Croston, are aiming to launch the Allotment restaurant on Liverpool Road, Birkdale in May The pair already run the award winning Allotoment cocktail bar in Manchester and the Old Packet House in Burscough.

It is set to be the duo’s most ambitious project yet and will aim to bring at least 20 jobs to the Southport area. Gavin said: “The extensive refurbishment will see the building transformed into a quirky yet luxurious seventy-five seater restaurant where the best of modern British cuisine will be served all day every day.

The restaurant also includes a cosy private dining room for up to ten people housed in the old bank vault, available for advance bookings and perfect for those special occasions.

“The bar itself will be a relaxed and welcoming space where revellers will be able to enjoy incredible cocktails produced by a passionate award-winning mixology team, alongside a selection of world and local beers and a carefully selected wine list.

“Sticking with the botanical theme the back bar will also boast an impressive selection of over 100 gins.

“Allotment intends to bring the beauty of the quintessential British outdoors together with the home comforts of being indoors, with a distinct garden theme running throughout the bar, dining room, mezzanine and beer garden areas. The Allotment believes you will spot something different every time you visit.

“This unusual approach has been extended to the food and drink offerings with fun twists on the usual staples such as the afternoon tea ‘Mad Hatters Tea Party’ and sharing ‘Watering Can’ cocktails.”

Gavin and James are currently in the process of redecorating and refurbishing the former HSBC bank and they are hoping to be ready in time for a May launch.
