Allen already had convictions for 190 offences on his record to date. … Thursday March 6th 14:00: Man arrested after Birkdale Burglary UPDATE:Thursday March 6th 14:00 BOLTON MAN ARRESTED ON SUSPICION OF BURGLARY FOLLOWING BREAK-IN IN SOUTHPORT Merseyside Police can confirm that a 50-year-old man from Bolton in Greater Manchester was arrested yesterday in the Birkdale area of Southport on suspicion of burglary. The man was arrested by police officers in Saxon Road at 5.20pm following reports of a burglary at a house nearby. The victim, a 30-year-old local man, had returned home to find his front door had been forced open. Once inside he realised he had been burgled and, after seeing a man acting suspiciously on his driveway, called the police. The homeowner then followed the alleged offender until officers arrived and made the arrest. The 50-year-old man remains in police custody at this time and an investigation into the burglary is ongoing. … UPDATE: Man arrested after Birkdale Burglary A suspected burglar was caught “red handed” coming out of a house in Birkdale, Southport, at approximately 5:30pm tonight (Wednesday 5th March 2014). The owner of the house was returning home when he noticed his front door had been kicked in and intruders inside his house. The alleged intruders ran off in different directions and so the home owner and a couple of his pals chased one of the suspects. One of men who they were chasing and caught up is said to have with threatened to smash their faces with two beer bottles he was carrying. One of the men used a bin lid for protection. The alleged burglar climbed on to a row of garages at the rear of Saxon Lodge and dropped down into a rear garden on Saxon Road. The alleged burglar was cornered in the rear garden by the three men chasing him. The burglar fell over and cut his head during the incident. Police arrested the burglar and took him into custody. He was later taken to Southport & Formby DGH for stitches and treatment. UPDATE: Thursday 6th March 2014. The alleged burglar was wanted by Lancashire Police .
