Birkdale’s Cllr Simon Shaw presses for action over “forgotten” hedges August 1st, 2014 admin Latest News Shares Comments Birkdale’s Cllr Simon Shaw presses for action over “forgotten” hedges Early in July contractors working for Sefton Council paid one of their regular visits to trim back the hedges beside the access from Guildford Road to the Carr Lane Recreation Ground. But – according to Birkdale Lib Dem councillor Simon Shaw – they left without finishing the work. Now he has called for the job to be finished properly. “I’m amazed that this work has been left uncompleted for the best part of a month,” commented Cllr Shaw. “In my view, that’s topiary unacceptable.” “On both sides of the access path, something like 90% of the hedge has been trimmed. However the last 4 or 5 metres, next to Guildford Road, has simply been forgotten about. The irony is that it is the most visible part that has been left undone.” Cllr Shaw has raised his concerns with Sefton Council officers responsible for Parks and they have agreed to get the contractors back as a matter of urgency.
