BIRKDALE LIBRARY ACTION GROUP MEETING THIS THURSDAY July 24th, 2013 admin Latest News Shares Comments BIRKDALE LIBRARY ACTION GROUP MEETING THIS THURSDAY Campaigners hoping to save Birkdale Library have called a public meeting this Thursday. The Birkdale Library Action Group (BLAG) meeting will be starting at 7.30pm at St Johns Church Hall, St Johns Road, Birkdale. Last Thursday Sefton Council’s ruling Cabinet decided to reject a bid submitted by BLAG which would have secured a future for the threatened Birkdale Library. Instead the Cabinet decided, in principle, to allow the building to be taken over by Sefton CVS. “We feel it is really important that concerned library users come along to say what they think about the threat to our Library,” explains Sylvia Thompson, Secretary of BLAG. “Although Sefton CVS talk about providing an ‘Alternative Library Service Offer’ it is on a very limited scale. In fact it would mean only around 12% of the current number of books on display. Would library users be happy with that? Thursday night’s meeting is your chance to express your views.” “We want to explore what alternatives there are to this proposed takeover of our Birkdale Library building.” Related Comments comments!
