This year’s British Musical Fireworks Championship running order has been announced and visitors to the three-day competition in Southport are in for a real treat.

As the only event of its kind in the UK, some of the best pyrotechnics people in the business will be trying to win the affection of the crowd and be judged the ultimate winner for 2016.

Each entry includes a unique display of fireworks carefully synchronised and choreographed to music lasting between 15 and 20 minutes. The audience are captivated as the sky over Southport becomes an array of colours and the music has them dancing.

The Friday will explode into action with the return of Skyburst – The Firework Companywho wowed the crowds with a recreation of the Dr Who Tardis as part of their display in 2011 and were named runners up in 2006.  Skyburst will be followed by North-East based debutants Impact Pyrotechnics.

Saturday will see a three competitor strong line up with 2012 entrants, Phenomenal Fireworks, lighting up the sky first. PDC Fireworks will take off second before Bright Sparks Fireworks bring the evening to an end.

The final day of the competition will begin with Essex Pyrotechnic who will be competing for the fourth time, having come third when they last took part in 2009. The competition will be closed by Lightech Fireworks, who will be making the short trip from Congleton and hoping to ensure the weekend ends with a bang!

Cllr Ian Maher, Labour Leader of Sefton Council, said: “The British Musical Fireworks Championship is a great event for all the family to enjoy and its return in 2016 demonstrates Sefton’s continued commitment to tourism events in the borough.

“I am delighted to welcome back some past competitors and I wish everyone the best of luck in their preparations for the Championships.”

Tickets are now on sale for the competition, running from Friday, September 30 to Sunday, October 2, and are sure to sell out fast.

Advanced booking for the event is strongly advised with last year’s Saturday tickets selling out.
