Developed from the earlier EXP Speed 8, the car will be the undisputed star of Motorfest ’13 and displayed in pride of place in Ormskirk town centre at Motorfest on Bank Holiday Sunday, 25th August, in the Moor Street Paddock. Following in the illustrious footsteps of famous Bentley success at LeMans for four consecutive years 1927 to 1930, seven decades elapsed before Bentley returned to racing and, ultimately in 2003 again took overall first place with the Speed 8, as will be displayed at Motorfest. Illustrating the vast progress made over those decades, back in 1930, the race winning Bentley Speed 6 covered some 179 laps for a distance of 2930km over the 24 hours, while in 2003 the Speed 8 car to be displayed at Motorfest covered 377 laps (5146km). “We are delighted that Bentley are supporting Ormskirk Motorfest by displaying such a famous and iconic car” said Mike Ashcroft, Chairman of event organiser Aintree Circuit Club, organiser. “This is the car that, after seventy years, returned glory to the UK with resounding success, taking both first and second places.” Submit News Contact us with your community, business or sport news.
