You can enjoy a fantastic day out and help to make one of the North West’s biggest free family events an even more enjoyable day out.

The fabulous Ormskirk MotorFest returns on Sunday 30 August and organisers are looking for volunteer marshals to join in the fun and make this wonderful event go smoothly.

Thousands of people are expected to enjoy the free motoring extravaganza, which will feature between 250 and 300 classic and competition vehicles from all eras of motoring. These will be on display in Coronation Park and Ormskirk town centre.

Organisers are looking for volunteer marshals to help with activities, particularly with the parade laps which are due to take place in the afternoon. Some can assist in the morning, or they can stay all day to help out.

The Ormskirk MotorFest is a free event organised by Aintree Circuit Club, supported by West Lancashire Borough Council.

Councillor John Hodson, portfolio holder for Planning, said: “The Ormskirk MotorFest is a wonderful occasion. Volunteer marshals play a vital role in making the day memorable for everyone, and have a lot of fun at the event.”

Mike Ashcroft, Aintree Circuit Club chairman, said: “Volunteering to be a marshal is a great way to become involved in the MotorFest. So please sign up as soon as you can to become part of the team making this fantastic event a reality.”

Marshals will be needed in the morning to help ensure vehicles safely arrive at their allocated display positions. The marshals will need to be there at 7.30am for this task, and will be expected to attend a briefing on this before the day of MotorFest.

Once all the vehicles are in place, which will be by 10am, there is a break period before the parades in the afternoon. Marshals will then be on duty to assist vehicles to get out onto the parade route and to be positioned at locations around the course to ensure the cavalcade goes smoothly.

For the parades marshals will need to report to the marshals’ centre by 12.30pm as they will need to register first and attend a marshals’ briefing before going out on post for 2pm. All the volunteer marshals will receive a refreshment voucher.

If you want to volunteer to be a marshal please apply as soon as possible through Ormskirk MotorFest or email nick@ormskirkmotorfest.com.

Teenagers under 18 can apply but will need a responsible adult with them on the day.

There is still time to enter your car into the Ormskirk MotorFest to be displayed at Ormskirk MotorFest. For an entry form please go to Ormskirk MotorFest.
