Queenscourt hospice has many volunteer positions and are always interested in hearing from you if you think you may be suitable! Please have a look at the list below and see if you could help us. (We suggest that people who have been personally bereaved wait for a minimum of 12 months before applying to volunteer at Queenscourt to allow for a period of grieving)

Hospice Volunteers

Kitchen Helper
Role: To help with washing up and other general kitchen duties

Office Helper (Scanning)
Role: Help us save money on storage by scanning in our documents and archives. Basic computer skills are required, additional training will also be provided.

Housekeeping Helper
Role: General cleaning around the hospice building.Using the vacuum cleaners and the upholstery cleaner

Laundry Room
Role: Provide assistant in our laundry room to help lighten the load.

Refresco Cafe Helpers
Role: To work in the Refresco cafe, serving drinks and light refreshments, preparing sandwiches, helping to keep the cafe clean and tidy, collecting and washing the dishes. To keep to the hygene standards and regulations set for the catering areas.

Gardeners
Role: Routine garden maintenance.

Car Park / Building Maintenance
Role: Checking and emptying waste bins. Cleaning UPVC (low level) areas around the hospice. Clearing waste from ground level gutters. General tidying of grounds

Driver
Role: Driving patients from Southport, Formby and West Lancs. areas in and/or out of Queenscourt . Must have driving licence and suitable insurance.

Charity Shop Assistant
Role: Meeting, greeting & assisting customers. Assisting with shop window displays. Keeping sales areas tidy and stocked.

Charity Shop Assistant (with till work)
Role: Meeting, greeting & assisting customers. Using cash till. Assisting with shop window displays. Keeping sales areas tidy and stocked.

Retail Ebay
Role: Use of computer internet, choosing, photographing and writing description of items to sell on Ebay. Tracking progress of items for sale and answering queries.  Packing and posting sold items.

Retail Drivers/Assistants
Role: Competent drivers or assistants to help with the collection and delivery of goods to and from our shops. Drivers must have a suitable driving licence.

Retail Kite
Role: Use of a computer and scanner to scan books which are then automatically listed to Amazon. No previous computer experience necessary as training will be provided.

Retail Stall Holder
Role: Assist the Retail team by manning stalls at various events throughout the year.

Volunteer Retail Assistant
Location: Churchtown Shop
Days: Thursday and/or Saturdays, shifts are either 9am-1pm or 1pm-5pm (shifts are flexible)
Role: Our Churchtown shop is in need of volunteers on Thursdays and Saturdays. We are looking for volunteers to help our current staff and volunteers process stock in our back office, serve customers, dress windows and generally keep the shop clean and tidy.

Volunteer Retail Assistant
Location: Formby Shop
Days: Thursday Afternoons (1pm-5pm)
Role: We are looking for volunteers to help our current staff and volunteers process stock in our back office, serve customers, dress windows and generally keep the shop clean and tidy.

Volunteer Café Assistant at Boxtree Kitchen for Queenscourt
Days: Monday 9-1 or 1-5 (shifts can be flexible)
Role: Boxtree Kitchen is a successful and well established high end social enterprise café based in the Churchtown area of Southport. We pride ourselves on excellent food, great customer service and the fact that all profits are given to Queenscourt Hospice. We are looking for volunteers who can work with our Café Manager, Café assistant and other volunteers to assist in creating excellent food and service in order to deliver Boxtree Kitchen’s full potential. Duties may include: serving customers, making hot drinks, waiting tables and washing up.
