Astronomy Evening at WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre

Take a ‘Tour of the Universe’ as part of a special Astronomy Evening at WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre next month.

WWT Martin Mere has formed a partnership with Liverpool Astronomical Society and Astronomia to offer special astronomy evenings throughout the year, with the first taking place on Friday 15 November.

The event will start at 7pm and finish at 9pm, with telescopes available for visitors to discover the wonders of the solar system and beyond as well as a series of special talks. Experts from the Liverpool Astronomical Society will give two talks about ‘Our Place in Space’ and ‘A Stars Life’ and Astronomia will present a will ‘Tour of the Universe’. There will also be advice on ‘how to choose your first telescope’ from Astronomia.

The event is £5 per person and places must be pre-booked, please call 01704 895181. Admission includes a free tea or coffee and the cafe will be open throughout the evening serving hot drinks.

Visitors can enjoy a range of hot evening meals from the cafe before the event (from 6pm onwards), with dishes ranging from traditional fish and chips to steak and kidney pie. Evening meals, priced at £7.50 for adults and £3.75 for kids, must be booked and paid for before the event, please call 01704 895181.

WWT Martin Mere is open every day (except Christmas day) from 9.30am to 4.30pm in the winter months. Situated off the A59, it is signposted from the M61, M58 and M6.  The Centre is also accessible via the Southport to Manchester and the Liverpool to Preston line by train from Burscough Rail Stations.
