The emergency services were called to Ash Street, following a 999 call, Saturday 15 August 2015.
A Honda collided with the rear of a Audi when approaching the traffic lights, then veered into the bus stop and finished lodged between the bus stop and wall.
The driver of the Honda was able to walk to an ambulance but the female passenger had to be cut free from the car.
The male driver of the Audi escaped with minor injuries.
Two ambulances attended the scene and two fire engines from Southport Community Fire station.
