Armed robbery Ladbrokes Birkdale – UPDATE – Man has been arrested

Detectives investigating a robbery in Birkdale arrested a 43-year-old man from Birkdale on suspicion of robbery yesterday evening (Monday, 11 May).

He has been taken to a police station on Merseyside where he will be interviewed by detectives.

Birkdale on lockdown following armed robbery

Ladbrokes on Bedford road was held up at gunpoint this morning at around 10am, Thursday 7 May 2015.

A witness said:

“We heard screaming from the shop and we knew something was wrong.

The armed robber then made off through Bedford Park and through the Lyndhurst road entry to the park”.

Police are also searching Bedford park for evidence.

The armed robber is described as male, 35-40 year old, dark brown hair, glasses, 6.2”.
