Police are trying to trace two good Samaritans who helped a 15 year old girl following an assault in Burscough.

The victim was found covered in blood with a significant cut to her eye by two members of the public outside the Spar on Liverpool Road at around 6.30pm on Friday 31 July and was taken to Ormskirk Children’s A and E.

The assault itself is believed to have taken place earlier that evening at the Vicarage Gardens. The victim was punched and sustained two slash wounds to her face. The offender is believed to be a man aged in his twenties and was in a silver car.

PC Carmen Whittle of Skelmersdale Police said: “This was a nasty assault on a young girl and it is thanks to the two good Samaritans who took her to hospital that she was able to receive medical treatment for her injuries.

“We believe they may have further information that could greatly assist with our enquiries and I would urge either of them, if they see this appeal, to come forward and get in touch with us.

“I would also urge anyone who may have witnessed the attack itself in the Vicarage Gardens to contact us with any information.”

Anyone with information can call police on 101 quoting crime reference SB1502860.

Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
