APPEAL TO LOCATE TWO MEN WHO HAVE FAILED TO RETURN TO HMP KENNET, MAGHULL May 18th, 2014 admin Latest News Shares Comments APPEAL TO LOCATE TWO MEN WHO HAVE FAILED TO RETURN TO HMP KENNET, MAGHULL Merseyside Police can confirm officers are carrying out an operation to locate two prisoners who have failed to return to HMP Kennet in Maghull. Arnold Pickering, 44-years-old, from Chadderton in Greater Manchester and Thomas Moffett, 51-years-old, from Blackburn in Lancashire failed to return to prison after leaving HMP Kennet at around 9.30am yesterday morning, Saturday, 17 May, on day release. Pickering is serving a life sentence after being convicted of a murder in Oldham, Greater Manchester, in 1990 and Moffett is serving an indeterminate sentence for a number of robberies carried out in Blackburn, Lancashire between March and May 2006. Both prisoners were due back at around 4.30pm yesterday but failed to return and this was reported to Merseyside Police at around 7pm. Since then, officers have been carrying out extensive enquiries and working with partner agencies and other forces to locate them and return them to prison. Pickering is described as around 5ft 11 in tall, medium build with blue eyes. He has tattoos on his arms and chest. Moffett is described as around 5ft 10in tall, also of a medium build, with brown eyes. He has a scar on his right knee and tattoos of swastikas on his arms. It’s believed both men may be in the Southport area. The prisoners have both been risk assessed as suitable for temporary release on licence by the Ministry of Justice, although any member of the public who sees them is advised not to approach them but to call the police. Officers are appealing to anyone with any information on either of the prisoners’ whereabouts to call Merseyside Police on either 0151 777 3803 or 0151 777 3891, or via 101.
