Southport woman Danielle Lake is appealing for help after her dog was diagnosed with having Osteosarcoma in his shoulder joint, meaning only having months to live if untreated.

Danielle said: “I’m so upset, I’ve been crying all day. This coming Friday will be 2 years since I found my dad passed away.”

“My beautiful dog who’s called Cannic is aged 9-years-old. I rescued him when he was 8-months-old, he has been a very healthy dog until he started limping 4 weeks ago after an injury.

“The vet gave him anti-inflammatory tablets but yesterday it wasn’t getting better, then we noticed his shoulder joint swelling up.”

“I took him the vets yesterday and he said it doesn’t look good! He had an X-ray this morning and gave me the devastating news that he has bone cancer it’s called Osteosarcoma, it’s in his front right shoulder.”

“The vet told he only has weeks left to live! I said no it can’t be right as he’s playing, eating and drinking and happy. I asked can he not take the leg off or do anything!”

The vet said: “He’s an old dog! – It’s just only started spreading to his right lung but only just. I have been researching a lot and most dogs with Osteosarcoma would have the leg amputated and chemo.”

Danielle added: “I’m heartbroken, I called an oncologist today and they said I can get second opinions and on any treatment available. He can even live another year or two with treatment.”

“I need to try anything to help my best friend. I love him so much, he’s my life. My vet I trust a lot but I need to get second opinions and will do anything I can to save my boy.“

“I’m very sorry for asking for help. I do understand if people think I’m being cheeky. I need to do something, even if anyone can give advice – thank you for your time!”

Danielle has also set a funding page to cover the vets cost, If you like to donate you do so by clicking on the following link:  https://www.gofundme.com/2bs4hy4?pc=tw_co_shareflow_a
