Appeal for witnesses following assault in Ormskirk

POLICE are appealing for information after a 19 year old man was assaulted at the weekend.

The incident took place at around 2.40am on Saturday, 4 August 2014 when a man sustained injuries to his head after an assault on Moorgate, Ormskirk.

A group of friends are reported to have been approached by a lone male close to a taxi rank in the early hours of the morning. The male has begun arguing with the group and a 19 year old from Skelmersdale is believed to have been punched and was knocked unconscious.

The man then ran off from the scene. He is described as being white, in his 30s, of a heavy build wearing a short sleeved shirt, possibly a dark red colour.

The 19 year old was taken to Southport General Hospital where he received treatment for a fractured skull.

“We are appealing for witnesses who may have seen this incident and might be able to help us identify the man involved. This is a particularly nasty assault and we would urge anyone with information to contact the police on 101 quoting log number LC-20140
