Appeal for information Hyundai car – Shaun Walmsley escape

Detectives investigating the escape of convicted murderer Shaun Walmsley, are continuing to appeal for the public’s assistance and have released a picture of a Hyundai i10 car, which may provide vital clues as to his whereabouts.

Prisoner, Shaun Walmsley, escaped in the grounds of Aintree Hospital Trust at around 3.05pm on Tuesday, 21 February.

Detectives have released an image of a silver Hyundai i10, which was seen in the area of Fazakerley in the hours following his escape. Detective Superintendent Natalie Perischine explains: “We believe this car was being driven in the area of Fazakerley on Tuesday, 21 February, with at least two people inside and I’m asking people to think back to what they were doing that day and if they remember seeing this car in the area.

“If you recognise the car, I’d urge you to get in contact and give us any information you may have, no matter how small, as this could assist with our investigation.”

She added: “I want to remind people, Shaun Walmsley is a convicted murderer who should not be on our streets and we have put significant resources into this investigation – we want him back behind bars and are asking the public to assist us.

“As I’ve previously stated, my message is clear, we will not rest until Walmsley is back behind bars, and the offenders who orchestrated the incident are put before the courts.”

Detectives are continuing to work with police forces across the UK and abroad to locate Walmsley. Officers are also reminding the public not to approach him if they see him, as he could be in the company of the others who helped him escape and they are believed to be armed. Walmsley himself is also described as dangerous.

Officers would ask anyone who may come into contact with Walmsley, to contact the police on 999. And those who have any information which could help with the investigation are asked to contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
