Appeal following RTC Water La Banks Southport May 30th, 2013 admin Latest News Shares Comments Appeal following serious road traffic collision in West Lancashire POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was left seriously injured after his car was involved in a head on collision with a lorry on the A565 between Banks and Southport this afternoon. The collision took place just after 4pm on Water Lane close to the Plough pub at the junction with Station Road. A black Mercedes CDI Sport was travelling towards Southport when it has been involved in a collision with a HGV travelling in the opposite direction. The driver of the Mercedes, a 36 year old man from Southport, was cut from the vehicle by Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and has been taken to Royal Preston Hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable. The driver of the lorry was shocked but uninjured. Sergeant Mark Sharples from the Road Policing Unit said: “This collision has occurred at a busy time of day on the main road from Southport into Banks so I am confident there will be witnesses. “An investigation is underway into the circumstances of exactly what has happened but I’d urge anybody that saw the collision itself or either vehicle being driven prior to the collision occurring to contact police on 101.” Water Street remains closed whilst police carry out an investigation.
