UPDATE: APPEAL AFTER FATAL RTC June 2nd, 2014 jmr jmr Latest News Shares Comments Update as at 12.45pm, Monday, 2 June Merseyside Police is appealing for an off-duty doctor to come forward who officers believe may have vital information about a fatal road traffic collision in Bootle in the early hours of yesterday, Sunday, 1 June. Emergency Services attended at Northern Perimeter Road, just after 0.30am, and found a 19-year-old man. He was pronounced dead by paramedics a short time later. It’s believed he had been in collision with a car which failed to stop at the scene. An investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident is continuing. Emergency Services reported that, when they arrived at the scene, the victim was being cared for by an off duty doctor who left before patrols had an opportunity to speak to him. Officers believe he may have information which could help with their enquiries and are appealing to him to get in touch. This person, or anyone else with information about the incident, is urged to call officers from the Matrix Serious & Organised Crime Roads Policing Unit on 0151 777 5747 or via the police non-emergency 101 number. A 23-year-old man from the Bootle area arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released on police bail pending further enquiries. ————— Merseyside Police can confirm a man has been arrested following a fatal road traffic collision in Bootle in the early hours of this morning, Sunday, 1 June. Officers were initially called, at just after 0.25am, to a report of concern for the safety of a man who was lying on Northern Perimeter Road close to its junction with Parkway. A further call was received a short time later reporting that there had been a collision between a car and a pedestrian and the car had failed to stop. Emergency Services attended and a 19-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers from the Matrix Serious & Organised Crime Collision Investigation Team closed the road to carry out enquiries and an investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident. Subsequently, a 23-year-old man from the Bootle area voluntarily attended at a police station. He has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and will now be questioned by officers. Northern Perimeter Road remains closed and drivers are being advised to avoid the area for the time being. An investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident is continuing.
