Appeal after Aughton burglary

Appeal after Aughton burglary

POLICE are appealing for information after a burglary at a house in Aughton last month.

At some time between 2:30pm and 5:50pm on the 28th of January, a house on Turnpike Road was broken into. The offenders appear to have approached the house using a public footpath at the side of the property and have then gone into the back garden before forcing open a panel in the back door to gain entry.

Once inside, they have then searched the bedrooms stealing a large safe containing several thousand pounds in cash alongside jewellery, watches, cameras, phones and Ipads.

PC Suzanne Yates said: “From what we know so far, it would appear that not only must there have been more than one offender but also that they must have had access to a vehicle, purely due to the size and weight of the safe.

“I urge people to think back and to call us if they remember seeing any suspicious activity in the area around the time of the offence. Similarly, if anyone has any other information that they feel could be relevant to the investigation then I would urge them to get in touch.”

The owners of the property are also looking to offer a reward of up to £500 for any information that leads to the conviction of the person or people responsible

Anyone with information should contact Lancashire Police on 101 quoting log number LC-20140128-0970.
