A Southport Councillor wants to work with Businesses & Residents

Cllr David Barton said: “Having worked closely with various departments at Sefton Council since my time on the Authority I have sought multiple options on how best to restore this property for the benefit of the local community and the business owners.

I attended a recent Townscape meeting with the Chief Conservation Officer and Planning Officer and was informed that the Council is to embark on a Stage 1 Lottery Heritage Fund of which this property may be eligible.

I am currently looking into ways of gaining extra funding for some of the town’s civic assets. Whilst this property may be in need of some tender loving care at all times I would urge sincerity and respect when working with the business owners who have only recently undertaken a magnificent full restoration of their own Verandah and building fascia frontage on Lord Street.

“This has benefitted the  wider community and sparked much enthusiasm from other land owners to restore their properties. Once again I can only insist on the importance on working respectfully and sincerely together with all related stakeholders if we are to achieve the best future for Southport moving forward.”
