KGV Students recently dazzled in this year’s annual college production, A Slice of Saturday Night.

The musical production, which was showcased over three evenings, took viewers back in time to the 1960’s with a nostalgic look at the challenges faced by young people growing up in this time period. Flamboyant costumes were a plenty and students did a fantastic job of using song and dance to bring to life the social issues that the Swinging Sixties became so famous for.

A live band of KGV staff and students provided the soundtrack to the production and there was plenty of opportunity for audience participation, a highlight of which was KGV IT Manager, Martyn Coleman, taking centre stage for a dance.

Stars of the show, Keziah Rea-Bradley and Beth Thompson, gave us their perspective on what was like to be a part of this year’s production:

‘Performing in “A Slice of Saturday night” was brilliant! It was quite a demanding show which only made it more fun to perform. We really were a close knit team in this production and that made it even more amazing to be a part of. The audience, especially on the opening night, were brilliant; very responsive, highly amused and entertained.’ Keziah Rea-Bradley.

‘The college production is a must for those who enjoy performing arts and I’ve made so many close friends from the cast. I study all science A-Levels, so the college production gave me a kind of release from all the work. I’m so glad I did the show and highly recommend it to anyone! I miss it already!’ Beth Thompson.
