A Night of Voices for Queenscourt

Queenscourt Hospice invites you to “A Night of Voices” on Saturday 24th September at 7:30pm.  This special Silver Jubilee Concert will feature three fabulous choirs including the Northampton Male Voice Choir, The Wayfarers Barber Shop Chorus and The Nightingales Choir.

The event will take place at Greenbank High School which is located on Hastings Road in Southport and we are really pleased to let you know that all the choirs are performing completely free of charge in support of Queenscourt Hospice.

Northampton Male Voice Choir

The Northampton Male Voice Choir was formed in 1946 and they are a Choir of like-minded singers who enjoy the friendship of fellow members. They sing for pleasure but strive at all times to give the best possible performance. At recent festivals their performances were marked as outstanding.

With around 60 members the Choir has grown steadily over the last 5 years under the guidance of Musical Director, Stephen Bell. They regularly sing in concerts for charities and good causes in their local area around the East Midlands, and whilst the choir are performing at the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool they are also taking time to visit Southport.

The Choir is very much looking forward to singing in Southport for Queenscourt Hospice and we are absolutely delighted that they have chosen our charity to benefit from their generosity. During the evening they will perform a varied selection of songs providing a rousing programme of entertainment.

Wayfarers Chorus

The Wayfarer’s Barbershop Chorus was formed in 1986 when a handful of keen singers from the Liverpool Barbershop Chorus were inspired to recruit singers from Southport and surrounding areas to form the Wayfarers Chorus.

The Chorus has gone from strength to strength and now numbers some 35 performing members and many associate members.

They sing barbershop harmony and classic melodic songs, are a social Chorus which means they like to entertain their audiences and sing with a smile on their faces. No mean feat when you are singing a different part to the person standing next to you.

They regularly perform in Southport and throughout the North West at charity activities, social gatherings, and other related music events and are looking forward to entertaining you at this event.

The Nightingales

‘The Nightingales’ are Queenscourt Hospice’s very own choir, made up of a group of dedicated supporters who share a love of music and performing and who wish to help raise funds for their local hospice.

The choir formed seven years ago and they enjoy performing a wide variety of music consisting of songs from the musicals, pop and a mix of music from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s – anything goes!

They have performed in a variety of venues from supermarkets to the Floral Hall and have raised many thousands of pounds which has all gone directly to benefit the patients and families cared for by Queenscourt Hospice.

We are delighted that they have agreed to be a part of this special “Night of Voices”.

If you would like to attend this one off concert then advance booking is essential.  Tickets are available £10.00 each either on-line at www.queenscourt.org.uk or alternatively you can call fundraising on 01704 517420.
