Man, 70, dies following collision in Rufford

The incident happened at around 12pm on Tuesday 18 August when the man was driving a John Deere tractor west along Tootle Road in the direction of Curlew Lane.

The tractor was involved in a collision with an oncoming Ford KA  before it tipped over and came to rest in a field.

The tractor driver was treated for his injuries by paramedics at the scene before he was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital where he sadly later died.

The driver of the Ford KA, a 19 year old woman, and her three passengers, a 20 year old man and two boys aged 14 and 15,  sustained minor injuries in the collision.

Sgt David Hurst of the Road Policing Unit said: “This is a tragic incident and my sympathies are with the family and friends of the man who has sadly died. We are trying to establish exactly how this collision occurred and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us.”
