DW Gym refuse a child use of the toilet because he was not a member

Letter to the editor

I had purchased around £90 worth of clothing from the Ocean Plaza DW sports store (January 27), When making my purchase my son said that he needed to use the toilet, the gentlemen on the cash desk said to use the one in the sports club.

We went and asked can we use the toilets only to be told by the girl on reception: “If you are not a member you’re not allowed”.  I replied: “My son comes here for weekly swimming lessons and has been for over a year, my partner the child’s mother is member and I previously have been a member over the years ” She then replied “but he isn’t a member “ pointing to my son who is 6!”

By this time my child had become distressed and soiled his trousers, the receptionist shrugged her shoulders and smirked.

We have reported this to manager who has taken my details and has told my partner he will be in touch however we are still awaiting a phone call.

We are both very disappointed in such poor customer care from DW and will be canceling the membership and possibly moving swim teacher for my son, which would be a great shame as we have been very happy there.

OTSnews have tried to contact DW Gym, but the manager never returned the calls.
