25th Anniversary of Hillsborough Tragedy

Sefton Council will join organisations across the region in commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy today (April 15).

Staff will observe a one-minute silence at 3.06pm in reception areas at council buildings in remembrance of the 96 people who lost their lives.

Similar commemorations will take place across the region.

Public transport has been encouraged to come to a halt for one minute at 3.06pm, while the Mersey Ferry will remain static and blow its funnels and barriers at both Mersey tunnels will be lowered for the full minute. As a mark of respect bells from churches across the city region will also ring 96 times.
