£19m Thornton Relief Road gets green light

The new Thornton Relief bypass has got the green light after years of campaigning.  It will be called the A5758 Broom’s Cross Road and will take a year to complete.

Former Crosby Lib Dem Councillor Jack Colbert  started the campaigning almost 15 years ago.

The £19m for the road includes £14.5m of government funding with Sefton Council making up the rest.
